On Friday, April 1st 2013, the Department of Tourism in collaboration with BIRD, in the premises of the University Campus 1 "Barleti" held an open lecture with students and teachers to update them with the latest innovation in UB, the professional certificates in Tourism approved by AHLEI.

From about a year the University "Barleti" is part of the 2500 institutions worldwide that offer AHLEI (American Hotel and Lodging Association) certificates, which are globally recognized.

AHLEI is a world leading institute, with 60 years of experience in the field of Professional Certification in Hotels and Tourism.

These certificates assess the knowledge and skills of all employees who every day provide services in the Tourism Industry and those who want to join the world's largest tourism vacancies.

In the new academic year 2012-2013, the University "Barleti" will open a new Bachelor in Hotel and Tourism.

In this agenda at the UB were invited Mr. Luan Dervishej, Tourism Expert at GIZ in Albania, who brought up the importance of professional certification in Hotels and Tourism and the added value of certification by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

Also invited was z. Elton Noti, Specialist at Tourism Policy Coordination Division of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, who highlighted the important role of Tourism in general and Hotels in particular in the economic development of a country during his presentation.

The meeting lasted for about 2 hours and was followed by questions and discussions by the participants.
