On 23 September 2014, Ministry of Environment organized at its premises a round -table for the presentation of the Draft Document of National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2014-2020.
The strategy, part of a project supported by GEF, is a joint contribution of the Barleti Institute of Research and Development (BIRD) (part of "University Barleti"), "DIAVA Consulting" and biodiversity experts from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Department of Biodiversity and Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment.

The document was presented by the Team Leader, Dr.rer.nat. Gazmend Zeneli, while as part of the working team from the university was also M. Sc. Flora Krasniqi and L.L.M. Elona Bano.
This Strategy reflects the new priorities for action that were identified as being the ones that will contribute best to achieving global objectives “Aichi Targets” for the period 2014- 2020. It takes into account the new commitments made by Albania, as new EU candidate country, in the field of biodiversity

The document was very- well received. Comments and suggestions that came out of this meeting will be included in the final document which will lay the foundation of Albanian path toward nature conservation in the next 7 years.
