Barleti University (UB) was established in 2005 and is among the first private universities in Albania.
Barleti Institute for Research and Development was founded under Barleti University in 2008 in order to give a broader vision to all aspects of scientific research in compliance with European policy and standards. In this regard, together with Barleti University as a close collaborator, the Institute seeks to become a strong promoter and supporter of research particularly in the field of sustainable development.
Barleti University is starting a Bachelor Program in Tourism Management in October of this year (2013). The Academic program includes curricula approved by the Ministry of Education of Albania leading to a degree in Tourism Management that includes second and third year courses by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI).
UB has partnered with the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) to offer AHLEI’s global standard through academic programs for Albania’s tourism students. Part of this cooperation is to identify a pool of lecturers to take part in a Hospitality Educators Workshop certification led by an AHLEI Master Educator. The workshop, which will take place at Barleti’s Campus 2, is scheduled for September.
After successfully passing the final exam of the CHE workshop and receiving the CHE certification from AHLEI, the CHE candidates will have the opportunity to be selected for an employment contract as CHE lectors for the Department of Tourism at UB for one or more of eight AHLEI courses offered.
Professional certification from AHLEI is the ultimate distinction of professional excellence for the hospitality industry through more than 90 licensed affiliates in 54 countries throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. https://www.ahlei.org/
